DeviantART Profile Concept (Preview) by r2ds DeviantART Profile Concept (Preview) by r2ds
A redesign of DeviantART's profile page. The design allows the users to interact in more ways, now you can post comments to your profile. Press 'Add' in the top bar and you can upload images (you can also drop images onto the button to upload), post, write journals, write docs, and draw with dA muro.

Being it's a preview - not every detail is worked out just yet. Only conceptual.

NO. I apologize, but I like my dA green and VERY customizeable - not ALL social networks need to look like facebook. It is TOO simple - I signed up to dA to be a premium member and have my custom boxes and cute designs - NOT! to have another dead end on my gmail. Youtube is bad enough. I get it if some people like it and want to have a User Design of it, but this isn't a good idea for a complete overhaul of dA's current design. It's been green and it always will be. The color of a deviant [not the user, I mean an actual DEVIANT - as in a bad person] tends to be represented as green, for malicious. dA is GREEN.

Don't take my iterations of current designs seriously. This is my building exercises, where I take a current design and alter it to another design to see how it translate. There is no 'cannot do this, or cannot do that' while designing these building exercises, if I was to work on a clients project then its up to them for what I can and cannot do. These designs are not shared by any mean to propose an alteration to the current design, just simply how I could see the design being.

I never said you can't do it, I said it isn't a good idea for a 'complete overhaul.' I also said 'I get it if some people... want to have a User Design of it.'

Again, the design itself is good - it's just not dA. I'm taking a marketing class as my SLC [or elective, if you will.], and with your design, dA's brand would die off. Brand: A unique name, symbol or design that identifies a product, service or company.
Brand Advertising: Builds an image for a brand or company.
1. How is this unique? How will it identify this product, or company that I am attempting to design? [Questions you should ask yourself when designing ANYTHING.]
2. Will this interface allow users to identify with the brand?
3. Does it match the companies logo?

Sorry, I've been taking this class for too long. Maybe before I went to highschool, I could see it happening - but now, no matter what, I see everything with a VERY critical eye. Again, good for a custom user interface, or even an interchangeable skin - but not for a complete overhaul.

Thank you and these are things that would have been taken into consideration if I was to actually redesign their interface for them.

Looks great, but I think in deviantart should the art stand in the foregorund of a users profile. But over all it looks really fit and clean, maybee some deviantart green would make it look a bit happier :D

Really nice!

Might be nice to incorporate a bit more of the green thats in the site atm since it's part of deviantArt's brand? I don't know if it would work, just a suggestion

deviantART does not need to substantiate the brand. People use it because of the service and community of deviantART. I had a few designs originally that had the green element of now, but in most instances I could not see it moving forward.

Yeah, I guess so. If you've tried it and it didn't look as good, obviously then the green should go. Would defo like a site redesign like this though!
